(I’m an Usher stan [check the tags].)

Went down to N.O. over the weekend to check out the Essence Music Festival and learn more about the marketing + outreach efforts of McDonald’s 365 Black (Mary, Ruby Dee, and Radio One’s Cathy Hughes + more were honored Fri at a banquet), Verizon and Coca-Cola. My recap here: Rolling Stone. TBOJ photo credit: Miles Ahead Ent.
My colleagues James Montgomery and Kyle Anderson piloted our ‘Top Songs of 2010.’ Here, catch me and some other 1515 experts opining on the #1 song, “OMG.” Check out the rest, why don’t you? Kanye West, Drake and more. [MTV News]

Confession: I’m a big Usher fan.
See what I did up there.
I used an Usher album title to make a point, I’m so clever.
Anyway, I liked some moments from Raymond v. Raymond, but didn’t love
the album overall as a whole; after Confessions, he now has the pressure to deliver art inspired by his real life, which this time is twin billed: divorce + regaining his status.
So, I decided on the way back from a trip recently that I’d re-imagine
his album, using what he actually released plus the version of his LP that
leaked in December, which had some different songs that didn’t make the final cut.
I think the way I rocked it is sexier and more swag’d out for Ursh.
I also tried to stick with the divorce/breaking free/single again narrative.
Click here for “Raymond v. Raymond 3.0” and click here to see my tracklisting; you might have to create a playlist on your iTunes and move around the songs so it’ll be in the right order. I would have done it for you, but wading through these songs made me less productive that I wanted to be today anyway.
Enjoy.
